Baffling only to an Australian.

I'm not an Aussie.

There is a simple way to get 4kg of marijuana without paying "tens of
thousands of dollars" for it - grow it yourself.

OK, valid point.

Corby's lawyer's claim that a drug smuggling ring of baggage handlers
planted the pot in her bag makes even less sense for the same reason. If
you were part of a smuggling ring, why would you bother smuggling
marijuana to Bali when you can make lots more for it in Australia?

Assuming that it was pot that they wanted to smuggle. Stuffing a large
bundle of pot in the bag of an innocent tourist or naive "mule", and then
tipping off the cops, could be an excellent diversion for smuggling a
smaller and more valuable product.

Actually, these type of pot is worth more there.
The Age has an article that this stuff can be sold for more
there.

"""
The man, who refused to give his name, said the "hydroponic bud"
smuggled from Australia sells for $A600 an ounce (about $A21 a gram) or
as much as $A20,000 a kilogram.

Top quality marijuana in Australia sells for around $8000 a kilogram,
although more when broken into "deals".

So upto about 2.5x more, from the above article.

The Age has also an article regd the prosecutions case

"""
10 pieces of evidence that went against her
"""

Thanks, that's helpful. Looks like she may have been guilty beyond a
reasonable doubt after all. In any case, the hysterical reaction of
many Australians seems unwarranted if the article is accurate.

Guilty or innocent, who cares anyway.

This case was used to make people fight each other, that's pretty much
obvious. Indonesians vs Australian, Guilty Corby vs Innocent Corby,
Pro-Howard vs Contra-Howard, and so on.

As long that most people don't care, this sort of thing wouldn't make
people fight each other and pass without any attention at all.

And it seems that most people don't care anyway, since 'they' started
bombing again in another of one 'their' attempts to make people fight
each other.

As someone who has been in Bali as late as Feb 2005, let me tell some
facts.

YOU CANNOT WALK 50 METRES AT NIGHT WITHOUT SOMEONE OFFERING PROSTITUTES
OR DRUGS IN BALI.

Dear pforde

You'd be more likely to get reads if:

1. You learn to take the capslock off;

2. You'd reason and relate. Oops. Outside your world of knowledge.
