Default NCL's new smoking policy

NCL has changed the smoking policy on their ships to ban smoking in any bar
aboard ship except the casino.
Sure going to get smoky in there! LOL

From what I'm reading it seems to be true but I'm surprised that they didn't
give the smokers a little more notice. The casino won't be any more smoky
than before, which was intolerable to say the least, so they won't be
getting any of my money.
I wonder how long before the other cruise line follow suit.

So is this in effect now on NCL? I assume it cannot apply on the
NCL America ships, given that there is no casino.

And please, no flame wars regarding travel agents or smoking. A
simple answer and on-topic discussion would be nice.

As I understand it NCL put their new policy into effect without any
announcement. Not exactly customer friendly.

The NCL policy is somewhat opposite approach of RCI's announced policy
going into effect in 2008. That is NCL bans smoking in public areas
except the casino and allows it in the cabins. RCI bans it in the
cabins but still has designated areas in all but one lounge.

I relly do not have aproblme with the new RCI restrictionson smoking. They
are providing some places to smoke and I am still allowed to smoke on my
private balcony. SUrely these restrictions will not be to intrussive.

Smoking on a balcony can be very intrussive. There have been a couple of
cruises where I couldn't sit out on my balcony bacause someone near me
was smoking and the smoke was reaching my balcony. For people like me
with asthma, smoke is a serious health issue.

I have no problem with spaces on the ship allowing smoking, I can always
go someplace else. My balcony I am paying extra for and I would like to
be able to enjoy it.

You say you don't have a problem with it but what about when they have a
comedian performing in a smoking lounge & the place is packed. I've been to
some where the smoke was terrible & the only option left is to leave or sit
there with the smoke- of course there might have been areas in the lounge
where there was better air but since I couldn't change seats I'm forced to
breath in the pollutants.

I have only run into this problem on Carnival, other cruise lines have
non-smoking areas in most, if not all of their lounges. This is why I
will not sail with Carnival anymore!!
