I heard today that Allegiant Airlines will be starting flights between
LAS and FLL in a few months. I know NOTHING about this airline. Has
anyone here ever used them? Any, and all info, will be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.

They are a niche carrier based in Las Vegas. They are privately held,
operate a fleet of MD80's and MD87's, and operate low frequency service,
with most flights operating only twice a week. They are no-frills, and
charge for everything (i.e., soft drinks, snacks, booze, etc.). Otherwise,
pretty much a normal U.S. domestic carrier in the 2000's. . . .

They are a privately held airline that specializes in Flights into Las
Vegas. The majority owner originally co-owned WestAir/United Express
Airlines years ago, then was one of the initial stockholders in ValueJet.
It is run as a no frills airline, in that you will pay a few dollars extra
for checked luggage and advanced seat assignments. Allegiant's real
marketplace nitch is their charter operations. They fly many collegiate
athletic teams around the country as well as entertainment industry and
gambling charters for Harrah's. Their scheduling of regular airline service
adds to their charter operations. I have flown on them several times with
never a problem.
