if you're looking for a good AND cheap choice, then hotel peninsular is
a very good choice. i've never been there, but the hostal opera on the
same road seems to be an all-time-favourite too (phone +34933188201).

anyway...there may be cheaper locations. check it out with the barcelona
tourism office, maybe they'll find you a cheaper one:

http://www.barcelonaturisme.com/

barcelona totally rules when it comes to good places to eat. :-) the
absolute rule number one: DON'T EAT AT THE RAMBLAS! it's overpriced and
most of the food sucks. with that in mind, you can't be that wrong.
there are tons of good restaurants in barcelona, but my absolute
favourite is "tragaluz". beware, it's not cheap! i've just found out
they have a website:

http://www.grupotragaluz.com/cast/rest1.htm

if you're looking for a classic paella, my favourite is "set portes".
if've just found out that they've a website too:

http://www.7puertas.com

...and yes, it's not a cheap one either. but you asked for good places
to eat and not for cheap ones. ;-)

anyway...as i allready told you: i really recommend the timeout-guide
for barcelona. unluckily i lost mine but be sure that i'll buy one again.

have fun!

Now while I have you .. the hotel you were talking about .. how much is it
per night ? We wanna make it as cheap as possible you see. Would it be
cheaper to stay at a hostel than this hotel ?

And .. good places to eat.. ? (I'm sure there are plenty !)

hi rasmus

see the posts above if you're looking for a good cheap hostel.

there are lots of good nightclubs with electronic music in barcelona. if
you're seriously intrested in electronic music check out "sonar". sonar
one of the most important festivals regarding electronic music in europe:

http://www.sonar.es/

regarding clubs and nightlife, i'd recommend you the following guides:

http://www.timeout.com/barcelona/ (english...buy the book, it's worth
the price!!!)

http://www.guiadelociobcn.es (spanish only, weekly updates)

don't think about going clubbing before about 2am...you'll be probably
alone in the club. ;-)

my favourite clubs in bcn a

"nitsa club / sala apolo" on nou de la rambla 113. music depends
completely on the dj. but most of the times i went there it was an
intresting mix between bigbeat, house and drum n'bass.

"moog" on arc del teatre 3. techno, the harder way. small club and
it's not really cheap, but i think this is because it's so near by the
ramblas.

if you're intrested in house music, i'll choose "otto zutz" on lincoln
15. bewa there's a bouncer at the door, you won't get in with old
sneakers and shorts.

anyway...i hadn't much time to visit bcn lately, the information above
is about 3 years old. i really recommend the timeout-guide if you're
serious about bcn. you'll find everything you want to know about places
to stay, eat, clubbing and shopping.

have fun!

cheers

Would you recommend renting a bike to get around in the city ?

Yes, especially biking old town.
Or is it impossible to bike around ?

No, although itīs not Amsterdam or Copenhagen.
Or maybe a scooter ?

If you donīt feel like pushing pedals, although I ignore where to rent one.

if you're from northern europe barcelona definitively isn't a
bicycle-friendly-city by your means! on the other hand there are lots of
scooters on the roads. the best thing will be to go there and make
yourself a picture. and no, i don't know where you can rent a bicycle in
barcelona. ;-)

cheers
