Australian airline Virgin Blue plans a code sharing tie-up with US carrier
Delta Air Lines to allow the two carriers to compete better on routes
between the US, Australia and the South Pacific, Virgin said on Thursday.

In advance of their joint venture, the carriers are moving to implement
code sharing, frequent flyer programme reciprocity and lounge exchange
privileges, the Virgin statement said".

US travellers might want to check Virgin prices first...

This is interesting. I can understand Delta might benefit form access to
Virgin Blue's Australian domestic network (and maybe even Pacific Blue's
trans-Tasman), and that V Australia might benefit from Delta's domestic U.S.
network, but V Australia (owned by Virgin Blue) and Delta are direct
competitors between SYD-LAX. It could become interesting.
