Default Digital Camera Download while in AU/NZ

I do not own a laptop computer, and while I am travelling in NZ and then AU
I would like to be able to download pictures from my digital camrea to a
computer, and then e-mail them home (to save memory card space on the dig
camera). I know the odds of finding a computer in a hotel lobby or Internet
cafe that allows me to do this are slim, but I thought I would pose the
question to those who have travelled to NZ/AU.

Any chance I'll be able to do this? I expect I would need to install the
camera downloading software on the computer, unless it had WIN XP.

Thanx for any help.

There are many camera stores in Australia that will burn your memory card to
CD for about $2-$5. That's probably the easiest way.

Either that or buy an X-Drive which is very small and will hold 40Gb of data
from 12 different memory card formats. They are AU$240 approx.

Generally you will find that Internet cafes have a machine or two with
card reader and usually an attached CD burner. There's more of them
every time I look around. Even in places where the computers are almost
totally locked down, like the YHA Railway Square in Sydney, you can
still do it.

Internet Everywhere has an outlet or two in Sydney, and I think they
have about one computer in six that will handle cards and CDs. $2 an
hour - bargain.

www.thediscshop.com.au or similar can sell you a usb drive for stuff all.
Get a 512Meg drive and that should hold a few hundred shots for you unless
you have a very high MPixel camera. (also not having to rely on yoru ISP not
crashing while yoru away ruining all ya pics.

Do they normally include the connection to download from camera to the USB
drive?

ah a further thought,
512 mB cards are also fairly cheap, i guess it depends how many photos you
are going to take in your travels.

I recently had a week away and only took 130 pics on my 256 card.

Camera to PC yes and then download PC to USB drive. You will still need a PC
to do it. Im sure that most Hotels will have one available for use.
