we've always gone with nothing special ... resort elegant they call
it ?? No ties or jackets ...

On the NCL cruise we went on that had a placard describing
proper attire. After 5:00 all but the buffet area
required a minimum of long pants (presentable jeans are okay),
no shorts, swimsuits, T-shirts, tank tops, or flip-flops.
This included the speciality restaurants.

Go to Key West for Halloween if you want to see real "formal". I get
to airbrush helmets and hockey masks, I want to do what those guys are
doing.

I was on NCL Dawn last week -- the Freestyle "newspaper" said no
shorts after 5:30 in any restaurant but the Garden Cafe (the buffet)
and no jeans after 5:30 in the Venetian (the main dining area).

That didn't stop one young woman from wearing a cutoff denim skirt as
short as shorts to the Italian restaurant, though.

Cagney's steakhouse seemed to have dressier patrons -- suits, dresses,
etc. Our favorite was Aqua, which has the same menu as the Venetian
with lots less noise and a more contemporary atmosphere. We went
there three nights of the seven.
