Default Cincinnati to Vegas - Package deal or DIY?

I've just started checking out some airfare and hotel room packages
available from some of the big name casinos on the strip. I suppose
the prices look okay but often you can't get a non-stop flight, you
can only get a standard room, and so on.

This would be our first trip to vegas and though we try to save a few
dollars whenever we can, I'd rather get a decent flight, deluxe room,
rent a car, etc.

For those that have been to Vegas multiple times, I was hoping you
could save me a little research trouble and let me know if in your
opinion the package deals are usually a real bargain, compared to just
booking stuff individually on my own.

Thanks,
Christopher

I don't use package deals. Check each hotel's web site and often you
see bargains, esp. if you can go on slow times or during the week.
Flights to Vegas should be the cheapest around.
