You're both mistaken. Here in NZ it's called the ground floor. But in
the US, it's called the 1st floor. Floors are numbered. Even the
basements are numbered b1, b2, b3 etc. I always get confused here and
say "I'm going to the 2nd floor." when I mean the first floor off the
ground...since most I've met here call the first floor, the ground
floor.

Tarla,

I haven't been following this thread too well. I remember Canada being
pretty much the same as the US and IIRC the UK. Is the 13th left
everywhere in the US and is it because of superstition? Silly question
I know but need an answer. :-D

Yep. Purely superstition.

If you correct for the American way of counting floors, would it be only
the 12th?

No, the 13th. They run from 1-12, skip 13, and start again at 14.

Similarly, you have no say in how post-trauma shock is going to affect you.

Emotional. Very different thing.

Huh???

You say you wouldn't let a small matter like someone splatting on your

vehicle
interfere with your duty to your clients.

Absolutely not. If that makes me callous, so be it.

GRIN

No-one was talking about "callous", tough guy.

I was talking about something *beyond your control*.

And beyond your comprehension, by the look of it.

Not at all. It's very simple. Now take my hand, and I'll lead you through
it.

GRIN

Let's try the same diagram in a different colour....

One step at a time ...

You are asserting that you are impervious to shock, is that right?

sigh....one LAST time. I'm saying WHAT THE HECK DOES A GUY JUMPING OFF A
BRIDGE have to do with the people in the van in the vicinity at the time?

And if you (or the airline) don't agree with that - or want to err on the
side of caution and keep the crew on the ground despite at least some of
them asserting they could fly the flight...

WHY THE HECK SHOULD THAT IMPACT, DELAY, PREJUDICE, OR COST THE PASSENGERS?

I'm quite happy to leave it on that note, thanks.

snip, snip, snip

Absolutely not. If that makes me callous, so be it. If a brick bonks me

on
the head, I'm injured.

How much experience do you have of people going splat on your vehicle?
Sounds to me as if you have none, otherwise you would appreciate the stress,
anxiety and shock that these people have been through.

And yes, I'm speaking from experience.
