The South Beach area is nice and there is a lot of activity there
and many good restaurants. You did not say how much money you want
to spend for a hotel. If you're on a budget, consider the Days Inn
Art Deco which is on the northern end of the South Beach area. This
hotel is right on the beach with its own pool and reasonable room
rates. See http://www.daysinn.com for room rates and other info.

If you are not on a tight budget, there is a long list of very nice
hotels in the South Beach area that might interest you. Check out
one of the travel related web sites such as Orbitz, Expedia, hotels.com,
or travelocity to see what interests you in your particular price range.

Miami Beach in February is very expensive. If you haven't purchased
your airfare yet, have a look at Fort Lauderdale Beach. There are many
small hotels with 22 rooms or less that can accommodate you. Have a
look at the Ft. Lauderdale web site at http://sunny.org

If you want to experience South Beach in Miami you can rent a car and
drive down for a day. Miami Beach and Ft. Lauderdale are fairly close
to each other.

Hi Dick and Franca,
My girlfriend and I are from the UK and visited South Beach/Miami last
September.
We stayed at the 'Essex House' on 10st street. Very nice hotel, not too
expensive and right next to the beach. The area around south beach was very
safe, in fact I felt safer in Miami than at home in the UK.
Ocean Drive, Bayside, The Lincoln Road area and the Everglades all
fantastic. You'll have a great time.
Thanks
JAK
