Default Wither Alitalia ?

The Italian government announced that they would delay any announcement about
some rescue package for the beleaguered airline.

Meanwhile, Alitalia has been grounded due to a strike by workers who don't
like the plans to let go of 3000 workers and ask for concessions.

The EU has its eyes wide open on the issue so the Italian government has its
hands pretty well tied, especially since the govt has also exceeded govt
deficit limits.

Will Alitalia disapear ?

Would the EU prevent a scheme similar to the Swissair - Swiss rebirth
process ?

Seems to me that the employees are driving their own nails in their own
coffins by striking. Don't they understand that magic government rescue
packages are no longer possible ?

What are the odds that Alitalia will survive through at least September ?
