One word: breakfast.

Between booze, gambling (won $110 on craps), and days in port... there was
little time for chocolate chip cookies.

there was no more laughing from the staff. i never such such a group of
miserable people. the pursers desk was abominable. mean to pax and
cruel. yelling and telling the pax they were terrible. no smiling crew
here.

Interesting review. It's hard to believe I was on the same ship in October.
I'm not a huge fan of Princess but I did enjoy my experience on CROWN
PRINCESS and felt overall the ship, service, quality, and food were all
quite good. I would not hesitate to return. I also did not find the ship
difficult to get around. I just disembarked from NORWEGIAN DAWN a few weeks
ago and that ship was far more disjointed in layout compared to CROWN.

One thing I've discovered is that no cruise line is 100% consistent across
the fleet. This being said I think Princess is one of the most consistent
cruise lines out there. They are fairly predictable when it comes to their
ships, decor, service, food, entertainment, etc. It's usually the same
fleet wide but every so often there is a bad cruise. Usually it's for a
variety of reasons. Staff change, new chef, new entertainment staff,
weather, new routing, new senior officers, and even the particular group of
passengers. I've experienced it on almost every line I have sailed.

I don't believe for one minute that the fact that Carnival Corp. owns
Princess has anything to do with the negative aspects some experienced.
Princess is operated as an independent brand just like before Carnival
bought them. They hire and train their own staff and manage their own
ships. Only procurement and capital expenditures like new tonnage must be
run past the parent organization. Carnival Corp. has nothing to do with the
day to day operation of Princess Cruises.

Hi Erm,

Please take care, and don't overdo it yourself.

We're still praying that both you and Bill will be the picture of health
come January. We're really looking forward to cruising with you and
spending some quality TS time in Orlando.

Love, Tobie and Barbon an island in the Pacific

This might be a good option for part of the day. I just looked and we are
there from 12 noon to 11 PM. We will have to talk soon about the
different ports we will be in on the MGC2007.

I hope Bill is still improving and that you are resting!!

There's always the hot tub on the ship. :-) I have spent enough time in
Aruba; rented a car for one day and turned it back in in half the day.
It's a tiny island, 6 miles IIRC. I didn't find the casinos very
friendly, but the week we spent there was 'way back in the last century. I
haven't visited any of their casinos from our cruise stops there, but I
have gone to one of the resorts, don't remember which one.
Today has been Bill's best day for a week. Still short of breath though.
Thanks for asking.

Maybe that's why - he could be cheerful because he knew he didn't have
to put up with whatever it was that was making everyone else so sour
for any longer.

The SGC on the Crown was light years better than my Golden P experience so
that's why it's sad to hear these bad reports now. Could well be a new
crew/captain and all that....

Didn't hear of anyone gorging on cookies at the International Cafe
yet.....my favorite place! I wish I had that in my office building!!! The
world would be a better place.

Thanks, Tobie. We're not doing much else here except taking good care
of ourselves. Almost all of the Christmas preparations have been done
and I have a lot of help with the house chores. We're also having
visiting nurse and physical therapist this week. I hope we don't need
them more than a week or two.

Looking forward to the Volendam, and a few weeks in Orlando with you and
Barbara as well as Glenn and Ann. :-)

To not be able to accoomodate them with is is simply not acceptible IMO.
Not when they have 6 months notice.

Splitting up the group was terrible IMO.

Tom,
You can hardly blame Princess for not seating you all together because of
the late bookings...The traditional dining room can just accommodate "x
"amount of people...If those who booked early requested traditional dining,
you can't expect them to build on space to a dining room to accommodate a
group whose members booked too late to get traditional.

Hi Jean,

I'm coming into this conversation very late, but I never got the
impression that Tom was blaming Princess for not seating everyone
together. If I remember correctly, he said that it was unfortunate that
everyone wasn't seated in traditonal together, and that splitting the
group was terrible....but not that it was Princess's fault. Someone had
asked why everyone wasn't seated together, and an explanation was
provided. Far as I could see, no blame was placed.

Out of curiosity, could members of the Viking Group comment on whether
they tipped the surly waiter staff and head waiter? It's one thing to
just leave a negative comment on the card, but if this had happened to
me, as reported by Tom K, I sure as heck would have visited the Purser's
(surly) desk and had the waiter/asst. waiter and head waiter(?) tip removed.
