filtering

I just last night set filters to kill google groups posters and also
the numerical address of the big Chinese poster. Today, instead of
dozens of offers of shoes,bags,watches I have twelve posts, all travel
related and all containing the old participants. I don't see
deepfriedmuffin nor divamanque this morning I hope they are just
silent, not filtered out; I value their posts. gb

It depends on your news reader of course but this has been
discussed in other groups and there is usually a rule that will
allow people you really want before the blanket kill. My own
technique, as I have mentioned, is to look at the persons quoted
in other peoples' replies and try allowing them if they look
sensible.

Well, DFM (on another thread) was threatening to leave. (Hope he's
reconsidered.) I'm just too damned stubborn to give in to spammers!
(As you say, filtering @gmail.com and @google.com plus the various
numerical addresses seems to eliminate most of it. (Although there's
one "legitimate" poster to my music newsgroups who unfortunately uses a
gmail account.)

Evelyn I'm happy to see that I have not filtered you out nor
