I lived in Norway as a young child! England is famed for its grey days
by people used to sunnier weather, sure, but I don't know why it gets
singled out. Scotland is statistically 'greyer.' London, that dark place
you single out so often, has more sunshine annually than Paris or
Berlin!

Not according to the BBC weather stats:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/world/c...ml?tt=TT003790 ...

London has sunshine 48hrs/year,
Paris and Berlin both 59hrs.

I'd seen that too, but the guardian story I mentioned must have got the
figures from somewhere. The 'average day' thing, I don't understand
though, so that might be it.

I suspect those figures are rubbish. Remember when the BBC was a
responsible source of information? They've mixed up daily averages
with monthly averages.

Bugger, now you point it out, the Big Mistake was mine.
I added up each month's daily average. That's what happens when you don't
get enough coffee.

Cite? I can find nothing that says that.

I didn't realise that doctors don't like to vote in the UK.

It's something to do with living in perpetual darkness.

And perpetually looking for decent reggiano.

There you go, exaggerating to prove your point. England is famed for
it's grey days,

We even used to have a comedian, Larry Grayson, whose catch-phrase was
"What a grey day".

Oh, is that what it was? ;-)

Personally, I preferred his friends Slack Alice, Everard and Pop-It-In
Pete.
