Recommendations choosing Languedoc, CinqueTerre or Crete in Feb/March?
We are seeking the opinions of this group regarding the three titled places.
To help us decide where to go, what are the benefits/pitfalls that we might encounter in each place. We are a fit couple in our mid-fifties who enjoy history, walking, photography, and local food and festivals. We prefer budget as opposed to resort/typical tourist travel. Recommendations/insights regarding weather, budget accommodation (perhaps a monthly let) and sights will be appreciated. We're seeking to avoid the chill that Alberta offers during February and March. We look forward to highly opinionated (but factual!) advocates for each place mentioned. TRhank yo in advance. Denis and Margaret. |

I wouldn't want to spend a month in the Cinque Terre, no matter what time of the year. There is lots of scenery, but not much else, there. I would suggest Sorrento or some spot along the Amalfi Coast for an Italian vacation. It is perhaps even more beautiful than the Cinque Terre, plus it is near Pompeii, Paestrum and lots of other historical sites. More museums, more life and easier to get in and out. (I assume you'll be using public transportation.) Plus it's likely to be considerably warmer. Barbara Denis and Margaret. |
