Peter You Idiot (Was Travel to J-burg questions)
What will we learn in November? Everything is OK if Americans vote in a way
that makes YOU happy? Honestly, the whole "We hate the damn Yanks" tripe is old. There is so much horror going on in the world, and we hear no outrage over it. It's only when America does something that there is a 'moral' uproar. Where is the outrage over Zimbabwe? What about the Balkans? Haiti is a lot of fun. Do something with the Hutus, and the child murder in Sao Paulo, Brasil. When I hear moral outrage from the UN, and world opinion mentions something besides George Bush, then I'll care about world opinion. The reality is that they actually don't care about the horrors, only refined posturing. When I was in South Africa (did I mention that I do indeed love the place?) and they found out I was American, and a Texan at that, they were quick to berate my beliefs (which is strange, because I never mentioned MY beliefs.) They automatically assumed that since I was an American, that I thought and felt a certain way. That's just bull****. When I asked why they were concerned with George Bush and not their neighbors in Zimbabwe, they just looked at me blankly. No answer. Get outraged over France (and the UN) over the food-for-oil program in Iraq, and then I'll give a damn about Reagan's arms-for-hostages swap. Contrary to what 40% of Canadian teenagers think, to equate Bush with Hitler is pathetic. I thought our northern neighbors were brighter than that. One more thing -- remember the Marshall Plan. geotek "Peter Schneider" wrote in message ... "geotek" wrote: : : Do you even read what you write?
