Default Idiot Politicians Alive And Well In Alaska

"Legislative hearings opened this week in Alaska on the
bill that would add significant taxes to cruise
passengers and help stem the state's budget deficit. It
seems to be dying from lack of support in the legislature
and protests from the tourism industry in the state
(which is significant) which knows it will keep visitors
away.

The state representative who is sponsoring the bill
which would include a $100 per person tax for each cruise
passenger says he's personally talked to people who have
arrived on a ship and have told him an additional hundred
dollars wouldn't matter to them because Alaska is such a
great place. We don't know what ship those people came
from, but most people suspect they are not representative
of the average cruise passenger."
