I can:

http://www.mbetravel.com/florence-hotels/hotel/hotel_rita_major/

It's a two-star hotel, which I believe is quite modest by Italian
standards (although I favour backstreets no-star joints). Their
"rooms" page says:

"""
L'Hotel offer to you the possibility to choice different kind of rooms
.. Superior , finish few month ago working inside that, with air
condition and tv view on our private garden with all service .
& rooms moore easy without air condition and tv , but always
ahdaygwahtho for 2 stars hotel , with view on the our private garden
too .
"""

I particularly like "ahdaygwahtho"!

We stayed in one of the Let's Go joints in the 90s- and it was cheap,
but what a place. It was on one of the streets up from the duomo, 100
feet away. The room was pristine, with huge ceilings, and amazingly
quiet. The only problem was a mosquito. I wish I could remember the name
of it, because if it were still there, I'd recommend it. It had an
Austrian owner, elderly woman but very classy.

Hi

I stayed there in 2003. It's a fantastic hotel, very clean and a good
standard all round. The food was excellent.

Found it!

www.hotelritamajor.it

It seems to have all the credentials for a good stay: nice rooms and reasonable prices.

Are mosquitoes a problem in late May?

Does air conditioned accommodations solve the problem?

Is it more acute being closer to the Arno?
