Is Florida less expensive or more expensive this year because of the hurricanes?

Thanks everyone for the information and suggestions in response to my
last post. As I look at the various alternatives I'm leaning towards
Florida, since that seems to offer the best combination of
sun/warmth/tropical environment/activities that my boyfriend enjoys.

Does anyone know if the hurricane recovery process has affected prices
in Florida?

Probably not in the way you are thinking. You might find the odd
deal here and there, but the two most common effects aren't what you're
probably gonna want.

1) There are places so destroyed that the hotels are heavily filled
with either displaced locals or temporary workers.

2) Some places have had so much beach errosion that there really
isn't any beach any more. Some places are still so damaged they
are roped off and you can't get near the beach, much less the
water. You can probably get a good deal on hotels around those
parts, but do you want them?

Before some local jumps all over this, I do want to clarify that
the vast majority of Florida has recovered sufficiently to be
relatively unnoticable to a visitor and ya'll should come here
in droves and spend money like a drunken sailor. We need the
sales tax revenue BAD. But if you get a good deal in New
Smyrna, ask about the beach first.
