Default camping in the WA goldfields

Hi all,

I will be travelling with my wife back to my home state WA in early-mid
December. We're planning on renting a car and doing the
Perth-goldfields-Esperance loop, over about 9-10 days. We'd like to camp
out at least some of the time. Does anyone have any suggestions for nice
places to camp in the goldfields, and down on the south coast?

I was thinking of Rowles Lagoon near Coolgardie for the 1st night away
from Perth. Anyone camped there? Ideally what we want is a nice, peacful
place. Wildlife would be a bonus. We prefer not to stay in caravan
parks, but camping sites in parks etc are okay.

Appreciate any thoughts on where to camp, also where to visit. We'll be
looking to drive between places enjoying the scenery and history, but
would also like to go for long walks & day hikes.

Thanks!
Tom

I'm not sure where/how close you can camp in or around Cap Le Grande
National Park, but definitely make the trip. It is spellbinding (watch out
for the Tiger Snakes)

Oh - my wife will just love that... Last time we were there we saw 4
tiger snakes, around the Stirlings and Walpole. One slithered across the
walking track right in front of me, and another emerged from under
someone's tent in a camp ground and disappeared under the toilet block...

Thanks for the recommendation about Cape Le Grande. Is that more
spectacular than Fitzgerald River NP? We probably won't have time to go
to both.
Cheers,
Tom
