do hotels accpect Debit cards?

I was wondering if hotels are suppose to accpect a debit cards
as i have a mastercard debit card from my bank ?
it looks just like a mastercard?

You can say "credit," even if it is a debit card. You may sign
for the transaction instead of entering a PIN, and the transaction
is handled by the card-network instead the ATM-system, but

what happens if then go out to dinner and its rejected?
