IMO, it's hopeless to try to _prove_ that either Airbus or Boeing has __hidden__ subsidies in construction of airliners. There is an agreement on what type of help and how much help governments can give to Airbus and Boeing. There was recently a WTO ruling against the USA/Boeing for unfauir tax treatment which was ruled to be an "illegal" subsidy. Bombardier and Embraer also get heaps of subsidies (actually, it is their customers who do) from the respective governments ("export assistance"). In fact, Air Canada couldn't buy flying skidoos because they were too expensive, so I think they was they structured the deal is to have a foreign company buy them (benefiting from canadian export subsidies) and then selling back to AC. The issue isn't who gets subsidies. The issue is who claims they don't get any and accuse the others of getting some. |
