Impact of trade war on Boeing
The WTO ruled some time ago that the various tax treatment by the USA
government to exporting corporations such as Boeing and Microsoft are unlawful subsidies. (I think it is to the tune of $5 billion per year). Because the USA has not moved to stop those subsidies, the EU has begin to impose import duties that astart at 5% and increase by 1% per month until a maximum of 17% next year (or until the USA stops that subsidy). Now, it looks like the US government will move to remove/chasnge the law that provided those subsidies but it may take time. How will this affect Boeing in the short term (tarifs) and in the long term (no export subsidies) ????? Is this really bad news for Boeing, or will this have fairly minimal impact ? Will this result in Boeing focusing even more on the lethargic USA domestic market, or will Boeing still be competitive on international markets without those subsidies ? |
