Hi Kevin

Just a few web-sites to browse.

Personally, I think the One World Alliance fare may be best (I used it
last year), but you may have difficulty planning the Auckland-Fiji leg
there unless you return to Sydney with Qantas. BA is your local agent.
Download the timetable and itinerary planner for assistance there.
http://www.oneworldalliance.com/
Air New Zealand are part of Star Alliance, so they fly direct to Fiji,
but the rules are different.
http://www.staralliance.com/star_all...e/main_10.html
If you use them, or one of the others that is based on mileage rather
than legs, then this is a good calculator. Remember that some of them
include overland mileage in the calculations. Read the rules carefully.

This site has some good general info and links to other rtw systems:

Hi Kevin

I've obviously got too much time on my hands, so I did some playing
around with my One-World itinerary-maker. No, I don't work for them. I
wish.

First, fares:

These fares incorporate the services of British Airways along with Aer
Lingus, American Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Iberia, Finnair, Lan Chile,
Qantas and their affiliates.
http://www.britishairways.com/travel...0world%20fares
Example fares are shown below, however as these vary depending on the
season of travel you will need to contact British Airways for an
accurate quotation.
Economy Class:
3 Continents: from GBP1169.00
4 Continents: from GBP1319.00
5 Continents: from GBP1719.00
6 Continents: from GBP1919.00

I think yours would be three continents (Asia, Southwest Pacific, North
America). You're allowed a couple of positioning flights in your
continent of origin. You're allowed four legs in each continent except
America, where you're allowed six. Intercontinental flights don't count,
but the limit is a total of twenty. You're only using eight.

So, you'd have some spares: four in Asia, a couple in SW Pacific and
four in North America. Plenty of options to drop in on Bangkok,
Singapore, Brisbane, Las Vegas or NYC for no extra charge.

There is another bonus. Join the Frequent Flyers. I used the FF miles
from last year's trip to go to Fiji (from Oz) this year.

A quick itinerary, to show it's possible, obviously you would change the
times and dates:

21 NOV 04 Fly London (Heathrow) GB to Hong Kong HK
Cathay 252 Dep LHR 11:45AM Arr HKG 8:00 AM Dur:12h:15m

28 NOV 04 Fly Hong Kong HK to Sydney NS AU
Qantas 188 Dep HKG 7:55 AM Arr SYD 8:00 PM Dur: 9h:05m

5 DEC 04 Fly Sydney NS AU to Christchurch NZ

12 DEC 04 Fly Auckland NZ to Nadi FJ

Operated by: AIR PACIFIC

19 DEC 04 Fly Nadi FJ to Honolulu HI US
Qantas 3019 Dep NAN 10:50PM Arr HNL 7:20 AM Dur: 6h:30m

I'm in Oz. I ordered mine through a travel agent, but did all the
preliminary checking on the phone to Qantas. I would presume you're in
the UK, so I would ring the BA information line for international
travel.

Part of the rules on most rtw systems is that you can't usually shop
around among the various airlines. You'll be charged the rate applicable
to the airline that services your country of departure. So you pay the
BA rate, I pay Qantas, if you departed from LAX you'd have to buy
through American Airlines and so on. That's specified in Star Alliance
and it was mentioned on the phone to me when I was talking to Qantas for
One-World.

Very true, but they didn't respond to my enquiries six months ago.

I ended up booking a World Discovery Ticket through Trailfinders which
was QF/BA only. It wouldn't do what the original poster wanted, but it
was a good fit for me[0] and (in business class) 1000 UKP cheaper than
the DONE4 OneWorldAlliance fare.

Oddly enough, the Economy version of this ticket is slightly more
flexible and allows some very limited CX flights. It is worth a look.

Iain

[0] LHR-HKG-SIN-SYD-MEL-CNS-AKL-LAX-PHX-LHR with the HKG-SIN paid for on
CX and the LAX-PHX paid for on WN. I depart 7 weeks from today :-)
