Alan,
If you want sleep then don't stay at the Holiday Inn Central Christchurch.
We found that it was in the middle of the nightclub area. We were kept awake
all night on the Friday and Saturday nights and I am expecting that because
your stay is near Christmas you could have the same problem.
The Hotel Grand Chancellor is across the road so it would also have a noise
problem.

I'm going to be staying in Christchurch on the 16th Dec as I have a VERY
early flight out, and I don't really want to either be disturbed by
other snorers through the night in backpackers, nor do I want to wake
them up at that time.
A single in a backpackers seems to be about $60. If I'm going to be
paying that, I might as well see if there are any good deals on hotel
rooms. So, the question is: are there any good deals on hotel rooms?!
Is there some hotel room clearance website, or any good promotional
codes or offers? Just a single room, nothing flash needed, only sleep!
