can anybody tell me where is the best place to buy rtw tickets
my itinerary is
london - hong kong - sydney - christchurch overland auckland - fiji -
honolulu - san fran overland los angeles - toronto - london
for a total of one year

so if any body knows who is the best to buy the tickets with i would
greatly appreciate it

I'd say London, just offhand.

Be aware that although RTW tickets are good for a year, that's a year
from the date of purchase, not date of first flight.

Hi Kevin

Just a few web-sites to browse.

Personally, I think the One World Alliance fare may be best (I used it
last year), but you may have difficulty planning the Auckland-Fiji leg
there unless you return to Sydney with Qantas. BA is your local agent.
Download the timetable and itinerary planner for assistance there.
http://www.oneworldalliance.com/
Air New Zealand are part of Star Alliance, so they fly direct to Fiji,
but the rules are different.
http://www.staralliance.com/star_all...e/main_10.html
If you use them, or one of the others that is based on mileage rather
than legs, then this is a good calculator. Remember that some of them
include overland mileage in the calculations. Read the rules carefully.

This site has some good general info and links to other rtw systems:

Must have changed. I bought my One World tickets in Nov '02, and was
advised that they were valid until a year after take-off from Sydney in
March '03. It didn't matter, because I returned in late July, but that
was my advice at the time.

One-World www.oneworldalliance.com is probably your best bet - I think it
will cover this route
London-Hong Kong-Sydney-Christchurch o/l Auckland-Fiji-Honolulu-San
Francisco o/l Los Angeles-Toronto-London

Escapade Fare is normally the cheapest RTW www.thegreatescapade.com
London-Hong Kong-Singapore-Sydney-Christchurch o/l Auckland-Fiji-Cook
Islands-Los Angeles o/l San Francisco-London
Note Honolulu and Toronto cannot be done on Escapade (so why not try Cook
Islands, and do Toronto on a later trip)

Star Alliance www.staralliance.com
London-Bangkok-Hong Kong-Singapore-Sydney-Christchurch o/l
Auckland-Fiji-Auckland-Honolulu-San Francisco o/l Los
Angeles-Toronto-London
Note Fiji to Honolulu cannot be done on Star Alliance

My suggestion if you need more help is to contact an Aussie Specialist
Travel Agent in the UK - www,honatravel.com

I don't think it's possible to buy *any* air ticket for travel more
than a year in advance. You must specify the route when buying a RTW
ticket and the final leg must be undertaken within a year from that
time.

Of course it is possible to change times (easy) and route (difficult or
costly) subject to conditions imposed at time of purchase.

I'm willing to be corrected on the above. My source is Edward Hasbrouck
and his "Practical Nomad" book, which is a goldmine of information for
round the world travellers, heavily geared towards non-first world
travel. http://www.practicalnomad.com

He runs a number of websites, chock full of information.
http://hasbrouck.org/

AirTreks specialises in RTW trips. http://airtreks.com/ They offer an
online routefinding page and a consultant will happily massage your
needs. Mind you, their online service found a direct Canberra-Paris
flight for me, which was quite bizarre, and the total quoted price was
WAY above what the local travel shops advertise.

Pete, still shopping
