Coki Beach or Magens Bay
How far is each beach from the cruise terminal on St Thomas and which
beach would you go to? We are going to one of the beaches but not sure which one. We'll be going by cab. tks Mike |

I'll vote for Coki's cove. Best snorkeling I did on that Eastern Caribbean
Cruise. Just be mindful of the fire coral Momma "Mike" wrote in message ... How far is each beach from the cruise terminal on St Thomas and which beach would you go to? We are going to one of the beaches but not sure which one. We'll be going by cab. tks Mike |

I confess, though, that I didn't spot the fire coral you mention (nor was I really looking for it...oops). If snorkeling is something the OP is interested in doing, then Coki would be preferable over Magens. I've never been to Magens, but I've heard it's very beautiful, however, there's no reef/snorkeling there. It's a little bit of a drive. When you get off the ship, tell the guy that's filling the taxi busses where you want to go, and he'll put you on the right bus. Most of the folks that were on my taxi bus were headed to Red Hook to ferry over to St. John. If I remember correctly, they were charged $7 each way for the ride, while those of us headed to Coki were only charged $6, even though it was a longer drive. Not sure why that is...a reward for staying on St. Thomas? Coki has food/drink right on the beach. It can be crowded, but I really like it. Lee Lee Momma "Mike" wrote in message ... Coki Beach or Magens Bay
Mike,
I do them both when I'm there -- two terrific places -- one for snorkeling and one for sheer beauty. Bill W. "Mike" wrote in message ... Also while you are there, you can visit Coral World if you want to. grandma Rosalie http://www12.virtualtourist.com/m/4a9c6/ |

How about getting back from the beach? Pretty easy to grab a taxi out there? Cabs are lined up, ready to take you anywhere. Not a problem at all. They may try to fill one of the bigger taxi busses, so they might keep you waiting for a few minutes. But, absolutely no problem getting a ride back to the ship from there. Lee |

We are not big snorkelers, so we opted for Magen's Bay. Have been there
several times and love it. It is about a 10 minute cab ride. Food, drink, bathrooms, etc. right. Beach chairs, float mats are available also. Gift shop also. Great water, great sand. It gets crowded also. Cabs readily availabe for trip back. denise |
