"Historic" in regards to Atlanta is a bit of an oxymoron....

There is absolutely nothing to see or do in downtown Atlanta...the area is
stone dead outside of weekday business hours.

Ignoring Gregory Morrow's comments.

Do you have to be right downtown? That's mostly large chains. If you can
stay in Midtown, there are quite a few B&Bs in old Victorian houses. Here's
one:

That area is a short walk to MARTA.

There's a lot more action in Midtown, too -- Atlanta's been going through a
loft boom through the downtown area. It's becoming a much more
pedestrian-friendly places with outdoor bars, restaurants, etc.
