I use one of those nylon zip-up shaving kit bags, but always seem to
have trouble packing that big lump, especially since it usually goes
in toward the end, with last-minute stuff. Do you have a toiletry kit
you really like, that's easy to pack?

I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it.

Try this link
http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/sto...fea t=4525-tn

That should take you to the LL Bean toiletry bags directly, if not go to
www.llbean.com
click travel and luggage
click toiletry bags
click personal organizers

These are the best there are, in my opinion, and they open in a way that you
can hang them right in the shower or by the sink. They are nearly
indestructible. They are a common favorite for high school graduation gifts
here in Maine.

Yes, in Europe as well.

I use a Jansport kit with a multiplicity of bottle, soap
holders etc and 3 zippered mesh compartments. I bought it at
REI, I think, and it folds to a surprisingly small size.
However, I still have to make sure that none of the plastic
bottles are large if I take it in my carry-on bag.

More precisely, the rules don't allow a tube capable of holding more
than three ounces, even if it is actually holding barely enough to
brush your teeth once. Several people have reported having their
nearly-empty tubes of toothpaste confiscated.

Having said that, I recently travelled with someone who successfully
went through security at SFO, ZUR, and FRA, and was allowed to keep a
500ml thermos bottle. It was empty each time, but clearly larger than
the allowed size.

I've more or less given up on toiletry kits and pack everything separately.
I pack very small backpacks and simply can't afford the space. Sometimes
I use ziploc plastic bags.

Lots of Greetings!

Haven't you heard about those low dose X-ray things that display you
as naked? Already in use in some airports in the US.

The TSA web site says medicines like cough syrup aren't so regulated.
In practice, they are, as TSA personnel don't seem to know about that
rule. Had 4 ounces of cough syrup they wouldn't let on.
