These are the low temperatures for Paris for the next two weeks......in
degrees Celsius if you cretins out there don't know how to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit the formula is: multiply the Celsius temperature by 18. Divide the answer by 2.5. Now add 64. |

Divide the answer by 2.5. Now add 64. Add 40 to the Celsius, multiply by 1.8, and subtract 40 to get Fahrenheit is a lot simpler and easier to remember. To go from F-C, add 40 to F, multiply by 5/9, and subtract 40 to get Celsius. Same formula with only the multiplicative factor different. ************* DAVE HATUNEN ) ************* * Tucson Arizona, out where the cacti grow * * My typos & mispellings are intentional copyright traps * |

First, note that that was Cochon forging my name again. One can also use reference points, 0°C is, of course 32F 10°C is 18*F above 32F giving 50°C. 20°C is another 18° higher or 68°F and 30*C os still 18°F more or 86*C. 40*C is then 104*C For guess in between, like what is 34*C, one just take 86* and add 4 x 1.8 which is about 99°F. |

While a conversion factor of 2 is not precise, you can do pretty well as long as you remember a few temperatures: 10C is 50F, 20C is 68F and 30C is 86F and use 2 on the differences. For example, 14C is 57.2F and the approximation would give 58. The numbers for the two higher values are easy to remember and most people can multiply and divide by 2 mentally :-). James Silverton. |

Divide the answer by 2.5. Now add 64 For those of us who are mathematically challenged, it is far easier to multiply by 9, divide by 5 and add 32. It is also much more accurate. The formula above converts 20 degrees Celsius to 208 degrees Farenheit, which is a bit off. The correct answer is 68 degrees Farenheit. Larry at Morro Bay, California. It's even easier to just visit onlineconversion.com. :0) BTW: I love Morro Bay. I have had many memorable experiences there (and in nearby Cambria). I'll never forget wading out far into shallow Morro Bay, edging closer to the amazing giant rock, and stepping on a skate (ray). The thing darted out from underfoot, throwing me backward into the water. I guess my footfall really scared it, but it returned the favor tenfold. - TR |
