Default U.S. credit cards at major hotels in Yangon

Are major hotels in Yangon accepting U.S. credit cards these days for
reservations and restaurant bills these days?

I found the following note on the website of Yangon's Savoy Hotel:

"Travel advisory: As a result of reinforced sanctions by the US, the
following credit cards (including traveller's checks) - AMERICAN
EXPRESS, DINERS, VISA, MASTER - will not be accepted to settle any
monetary transactions in Myanmar.

"Please be advised that USD cash is accepted. We suggest that you
carry USD notes in small denominations."

Thanks very much,

Barry in L.A.

When taking US cash be sure to take only new or almost new notes with
nothing written on them. The funny thing is that when they give you change
in local currency it is often in the most disgusting state. We had lightly
used notes (with tiny tears etc in them) refused on several occasions but
when we insisted we had nothing else ('flying out in two hours etc'),
magically they could be accepted. Better though to take good clean notes in
the first place.
Have a great time. Sue

I heard too that US credit cards can no longer be used in Myanmar.
Better to bring cash.
