Default Nonstops, Taiwan to Hawaii?

Are there any nonstops, or good one-stops, Taiwan to any of the Hawaiian
Islands other than Oahu? -- outside of taking the straightforward Taipei
to Honolulu nonstop via Delta or China Air and then island-hopping from
HNL, that is.

(For various reasons I might prefer to take a short hop from TPE to some
other Asian transfer point, then a long nonstop direct to the final
Hawaii destination.)

And if the final choice were TPE-HNL via Delta or China Air, which one
might be preferable (in Bus/First Class)?

Thanks for any info.

I believe that only Oahu (HNL) is designated as a "International
Airport" complete with US Customs officials.
Thats why you must connect through HNL to get to another island when
traveling NonStop from a foreign country.

There are a few flights from Narita to Kona on JALways that let you
construct a connection on JL. Other than that it appears you gotta go
through HNL.

Ah, hah! So that may be part of the reason (along with more limited
airport sizes and facilities) why one can get direct flights to some of
the other islands coming from the U.S. but not from more distant
trans-Pacific starting points.

You believe incorrectly

That might be news to Kona International and JAL

That was my first guess. There might be others.

Nope. HNL isn't the only HI airport with international flights.

There are nonstop flights from Vancouver to both Kahului and Kona.
