Going through a time zone?
It looks like it's an hour earlier in Alaska (at least the parts we're
going to) than it is in Seattle. How does that work on a ship as far as stopping in ports and going through Tracy Arm Fjord? Do they announce when to change your watches, or does the ship stay on the time of the departing port? Thanks, Marcia |

Hard to say if your ship will change time or not, from what I have heard it depends on who the captain is. In the daily paper they will tell you when to change your clock and you should also find a note on your pillow at night. sue |

All of Alaska except the most western Aleutian islands and St. Lawrence island is on GMT - 9 during winter (AKST) and GMT - 8 during summer (AKDT)**. In the daily paper they will tell you when to change your clock and you should also find a note on your pillow at night. All of the ships stopping in Alaskan ports will switch to local time because they don't want passengers to be confused about the time they are supposed to be back. As Sue says you will be notified by the daily info sheet, by your cabin attendant and typically by your table waiter. ** If Charles is on your ship, it will remain on New Joysey time during the entire cruise as a courtesy to him, because he has no idea how to adjust his watch. Nobody else will notice this exception. sue Great, thanks. Marcia |

When we were on Celebrity, there was no note in the daily paper and neither did we get a note on the pillow. They also didn't change automatic wake-up call. The only place it was noted was in the information we got when we boarded the ship. Fortunately it was a sea day. HAL does the daily paper and the note on the pillow. RCI does the daily paper, and so does NCL. |

Also they have always left a note on the bed the night before on every Celebrity sailing I have been on. -- Charles |

Also they have always left a note on the bed the night before on every Celebrity sailing I have been on. I guess our cabin steward was careless or clueless then. We looked because our table partners mentioned it, and there was no note. Later I went on through all of the Dailies to see if they mentioned it and it was in the first one, but not the one for that day. Maybe his problem was that he wanted to get in and do our cabin during the first dinner seating. He gave us a note at the beginning saying we were on the first seating, but we weren't. So he kept trying to do the cabin while Bob was at the first show, and I was showering or something. |

Charles conferred with the ghost of Faye Wray and said On 3/19/2010
11:55 AM: It is not standard procedure on Celebrity to not put it in the Daily. Two negatives make a positive. In other words you are saying: 'It is standard procedure on Celebrity to put it in the Daily'? -- ________ To email me, Edit "blog" from my email address. Brian M.
