Default Need help....Destination?

I am looking to take my wife to somewhere warm in the next month or
so....She is just overcoming a battle with Breast Cancer and I want to
take her somewhere nice....I am looking for somewhere nice that speaks
English....We are in our mid 30's a bit past the party stage but
before the casino stage. Somewhere just to go and hang out on the
beach enjoy some peace and quiet.....
Any suggestions...also I am on a budget.....I would be flying out of
upstate NY...
Thanks in advance....

Some ideas:

If you want to stay in the US, the Florida Keys are nice. They can be pricey,
but I think you can find bargains, and airfare to Florida is reasonable.

The Bahamas might be your ticket, a couple low fare carriers have recently
added them to their schedules, and having been a british colony they speak
English. They are warm enough in December.

Puerto Rico is nice, and part of the US, but they speak Spanish.
Belize and the US Virgin Islands speak English, but are pricey.

Have you considered, maybe a Cruise? If you are going in early to mid December
(but NOT over the holidays) there are some great bargains to be had. If you
don't drink too much and don't do the Casino thing, you can even limit on
board purchases. Even early January, right after the new year, is pretty
inexpensive.

There are a lot of inexpensive sailings out of East Coast and Gulf Coast ports
(Charleston South Carolina, Port Canaveral, Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Tampa
Florida, New Orleans LA, Galveston/Houston TX) in December, and most of these
are accessible via lowfare airlines. If you get an inside room, the cost can
be as low as $500 - 700 per person, and that covers your room, all your meals
(including room service, midnight buffets, tea, etc.) and entertainment.
You'd need extra for drinks (alcoholic and soft, though generally coffee, water
iced tea are available 24 hours a day for free) tips (about $70 per person)
and any activities.

There are lots of activities on ship and in port which you can indulge in,
but you can also do nothing but sit by a pool, or by a window in a lounge and
watch the sea go by. You might consider splurging and spending $100 or so on
getting your wife a massage at the spa one day.

Anyway, those are my suggestions, whether by land or sea, hope you have a great
time.

Check out Anquilla....it is beautiful and quiet...they have both reasonable
and outrageously expensive accommodations. You could spend one day in St.
Martin/St.Marten getting there by fast ferry. The people are English
speaking and are delightful! Wherever you wind up going have a GREAT
time!!

If you'd be interested in an all-inclusive resort, there are a lot of
them in Jamaica ranging from very wild to "laid back" which it sounds
like you are looking for. Several major airlines fly to Montego Bay.
Also, I think Spirit recently started service to M.B., but I'm not sure.

If you can fly to a city with charters, you can save a lot. Boston has
charters to Antigua, a great destination. Nice beaches and a good all
around island.

For the cheapest vacations of course go to the DR or Jamaica or Aruba.
Based on what you want, forget Aruba. It is the Las Vegas of the
Caribbean. I do not recommend DR or Jamaica for those who have never
been to the Caribbean. They are challenging to get about unless you
are savvy to mental driving and left side drive. If you are going to
an all inclusive in any island and do not intend to leave the property
then why GO I say. Stay in the US and go to Sanibel or Captiva. Great
dining, great beaches and more comfy for some.
