Alicante Spain Must See - Must Do

One of the ports on my upcoming cruise is Alicante, Spain. I've done
some research, there's a castle/fortress on a mountain overlooking the
town. Would you suggest a visit? What about photo ops in Alicante?
PUH-leez don't say Google is your friend. I want to hear from folks who
have been to Alicante. I'm looking for personal opinions from this
newsgroup.

You may want to go to the old city (Casco Antiguo); it's rather small.
Valencia, about 110 miles north, is a much more interesting city, having
been under the influence of multiple cultures.
