LHR transfer T1 to T4
Hi,
I'll be travelling to Bangkok from Barcelona, thru LHR. The plane arrive in terminal 1, and 2hr later the plane leave from terminal 4. What do I need to do? any tips on how to make it faster? And is there any cheap bar, restaurant or else to make dinner? Thanks so much. |

You will catch a bus from the connection centre. See the Heathrow website for details. You could also use the Heathrow Express or the Tube. However two hours is considered minimum. What do I need to do? any tips on how to make it faster? And is there any cheap bar, restaurant or else to make dinner? You won't have time for that. |

That assumes the OP and his baggage are checked through all the way when they checkin at Barcelona, otherwise they will have to pick up their luggage clear customs and use the Heathrow Express (free) signposted from T1 (after customs/immigration). www.baa.com You could also use the Heathrow Express or the Tube. However two hours is considered minimum. If the transfer is being made at peak times then the Heathrow express might well be quicker than the bus from the connection centre. What do I need to do? any tips on how to make it faster? Run And is there any cheap bar, restaurant or else to make dinner? Mac Donalds after security in T4. (and other options). |

They will tell you to take the (easy to follow) signs to the flight connections centre and put you on the bus to T4 (I have never used it so dont know the details). Dont forget you can checkin online with BA and pick your own seats. You will probably also get a meal about an hour or so after departure on the LHR-BKK flight "Miss L. connections centre and put you on the bus to T4 Do the Bus passangers ever clear immigration and enter the country? Does the bus leave the airside of the airport? If so isn't that an immigration risk? |

What do I need to do? any tips on how to make it faster? And is there any cheap bar, restaurant or else to make dinner? Thanks so much. Just did this earlier this week. With your bags checked through, you go through security in T1, then go downstairs and take a bus for a longish ride to T4. Go upstairs and find your gate. There are a number of restaurants in the T4 waiting area. Our original connection time was 1 hour 45 minutes, so booked by British Air. I questioned them on this and they assured me it was enough time. But the first flight was almost an hour late arriving. Happily our second flight was a little late, so we arrived--panting--at the gate as they were boarding. We were allowed to use the Fast Break security line (we asked). However, security did an extra careful check on our carry-on bags, negating some of the time advantage. But the security line can be quite long, depends on the time of day and day of the week. That's why transit visas are needed by some nationalities though one doesn't practically enter the U.K. in transit Does the bus leave the airside of the airport? If so isn't that an immigration risk? no, it does not. |
