Just trying to figure out what area of Galway is preferable for a
couple of people who like to walk to dinner, and visit pubs with
sessions and local music?

We spent a fascinating evening in O'Connell's pub in a

A minor correction. It was Gus O'Connor's pub - I just
checked the photo album:-)

I just measured the distance between downtown Galway and the pub by road and
it is around 70 kilometres which is about 43 miles.

Once you've decided on accommodation you could do a search for that
venue as per "review".
On reading the comments, those that did not appreciate being out in
the middle of nowhere will be sure to say so and then you'll not only
have found a place to walk back and forth from, but just how far out
too.
As a starter you could look-up tripadvisor.com , however, from memory,
they don't feature reviews of camping sites, caravan parks or most
B&Bs.
