Default Crossing Kenya-Tanzania border by rental car?

How difficult or easy is it currently to travel from kenya to Tanzania
by Kenya registered rental car. Used to be impossible and later
difficult, but may be a piece of cake nowadays. Grateful for any
recent expweriences with border procedures at Namanga for example.

Since rates for tented camps in the Maasai mara are rather steep,
particularly if you want to travel with children and if you no longer
beenfit from resident status, any advice about more sensible dxiscount
offers?
Thanks

Hi Mzee,

I don't know everything, but most car rental companies won't
have their cars insured for cross-border traffic, so they will
not allow it. They are also rightly afraid that they may never
get their car back.

Go in May, before the high season begins for most lodges. Know
the best lodges for your purpose. Find out about the prices
beforehand. Check http://michna.com/kenya.htm , particularly the
chapters on lodge pricing.

Rent your car from http://rasuls.com/ , rather than from the
international companies like Hertz or Avis, where they may cost
twice as much. There are some other budget car rentals as well
that may give you a good deal. Always ask for a discount, they
often give one to everybody who asks. Mention my name to Rasul,
then ask for a discount. (:-)
