luxury hotel in Chicago?
Which of the following is the most impressive hotel?
The Fairmont The Drake Westin Michigan Ave. W Hotel, Lakeshore I'm fairly indifferent myself, but I will be visiting Chicago this winter and I want to impress a woman (in her late 20s, about whom I am very much not indifferent), so any help would be appreciated. Money isn't really an issue, but I also don't want to be silly, so I've left off some of the more exotic options. Those are my top 4 choices. I can also pick from House of Blues, Omni Chicago, Amalfi and Millenium Knickerbocker. Thanks to all! |

The W is more chic, but for your purposes I would choose the Drake's old-line elegance and unbeatable location. Too bad the Palmer House wasn't on the list. Anyhow, I agree that the Fairmont is the nicest and the Drake is the most impressive; however, I've heard that many of the rooms in the Drake are fairly small - just a bit of warning if you choose to stay there. I always stay with friends or family when I'm in Chicago, so I haven't actually stayed at any of these places, but I've walked in/through all but the W on several occasions. |

Drake is a little threadbare.
Westin is always good, not "luxurious." W is great but a bit out of the way. If you're such a hotshot, then you should stay at the Peninsula or the Four Seasons.
