[Somewhat late response. Just catching up.]
Chris Wilkinson wrote: Hi there, www.poms.co.uk wrote: "Baranggay Ginebra" wrote in message ... Welcome to HELL!!! Temperature got to 38 today. Now the air-conditioner's 38C is pretty rough going. My partner and I have lived in Brisbane for 7 weeks now and have seen 37C on the 2nd day we were here. That sucked! Since that initial heatwave passed its actually been quite tolerable, with the temp getting to around 28-32 most days, and dropping to around 18-20 at night... The worst heat I've ever encountered was 41 in Rangiora in 1991...that was higher on the 'it sucks' scale than anything we've encountered in Australia so far! :-) 37/41C? That's for sissies! :-) On our recent (January 25 through March 8) trip in Western Australia we had temperatures upto 47C and mostly 45C or so. No problem at all, except in Karratha and Port Hedland where the humidity made things bad ("I could have sworn I dried myself when I came out of that shower!"). Marble Bar was a chilly 45C! [1] :-) But the beer in the pub was still nice. [1] We were the talk of the time: "Tourists at *this* time of year? And two (vehicles) of them to boot!" |
