Just about every airline site if you type in the name of the city in
their booking engine will give the airport code.

go to google. typename of city and the magic word "airport"
Even if the city is mistyped or barely recognized, you'll probably find
it. For example "bum**** vermont airport" yielded "burlington international
airport" and it's code BTV.

this really shouldn't be such a difficult task.

Yes, but think of how much easier it is to post the question in
a vaguely titled thread. Well, easier for the poster, anyway.

Had a nice cruise picked out for 12 days for $1100.00 for 2 including
all taxes and insurance, but the airlines fouled it up by charging almost
$700.00 p.p just not worth the aggravation they give by having to change
planes etc.

Play a little with the dates before and after the cruise. Sometimes you
can substantial savings by flying n an odd day. We once spent two days
in Miami on a flight and the savings paid for the hotel plus meals. Of
course, that was a few years back but similar deals can be had by flying
off days.

Another suggestion for the OP is to try a different departure airport
other than Philly. There's Allentown PA (WBE), Baltimore MD (BWI),
and Newark NJ (EWR) all within a 1-2 hour drive.

But I'd look for better prices. A $700 domestic ticket sounds like
you're asking for a no-restrictions Y class ticket, or trying to fly
to Hawaii or Europe, instead of Florida.

Consider trying www.kayak.com/buzz/ for playing with dates and
destinations.
There's sure to be some caveats, but it gives you a decent read on
market price trends.

For example, the typical 'average low fare' for PHL-FLL airfare ...non-
stops only... for the entire month of May is $175, except for a price
spike for Memorial Day weekend, where it jumps to around $215.
Looking wider, it looks like it dropped to below $200 after 4/18, and
except for the above spike, stays below $200 until mid-June.
