Default seeking advice on Safari/Diving in South/East Africa

Hi all,

firstly, sorry slightly off group, but may strike lucky..

The wife has finally nagged me into going on safari later this year.. I've
been resisting as its all a little too land based for me.. so she's made it
a little more appealing by allowing some diving too.

So.. I'm looking for some ideas on a combined type holiday where we can do
the safari thing then go off and enjoy ourselves diving.. I am thinking
Indian Ocean, so South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Kenya..

I suppose the best place to start is to ask if anyone knows of any good
companies who offer both at a reasonable rate.. As I say at this point I'm
open to suggestion.

Has anyone done this sort of thing and has a good holiday report? Conversely
any bad reports - places/tour companies to avoid.. There are quite a few
companies that do this, but know have been recommended yet.

Like the idea of the Sardine run in June/July, so could combine that with
something else.. I guess this happens south africa and into mozambique?

Any feedback would be much appreciated (off list if you want.. - remove
".nospam" to reply )

cheers

Wilbo,
These two companies can help you with diving the sardine
run, although it is impossible to predict the date of the run.
The sardine run is dived mainly from Umkomaas to the
Wild Coast in South Africa.

If you want to book into national game parks like Kruger
its best to do that through the Parks Board.
Richard.

We went with Let's Go for our safari in Tanzania a few years ago. No
problems, had a great time. We booked in Nairobi itself. You might try
Lonely Planet for more suggestions, though you probably already know
that.

I dived a week stying on Pemba (little island north of Zanzibar). Although
there are probably better places in the World it was still spectacular. We
never saw another dive boat during 6 days of diving. Lunch on little
islands - never saw a soul. We used
http://www.allaboutzanzibar.com for booking and they were great.

Why they were great? They had screwed up our plane tickets from Zanzibar to
Pemba, and quickly realised it was their fault. On the spot and without
hesitation they hired a cessna with a pilot to fly us to Pemba. Half an hour
later we were on our way. That was great service!
