Default What's Your Favorite Train Station?

A recent thread caused me to reminisce again about European train
stations, both huge and tiny.

For me, one of most interesting and fun aspects of travel has turned
out to be the train stations themselves, from large ones such as
Frankfurt's very modern Hauptbahnhof to tiny ones, such as in Cesky
Krumlov in the southern Czech Republic, where the waiting area is just
a room with a card table or two, some folding chairs and a wood-burning
stove in the corner. The station in Ceskd Budjeovice also comes to mind
because of the large memorial to town's WWII dead that dominates one
wall. Then Prague's Hlavni nadrazi, with an atmosphere I'll simply call
wonderfully curious.

I loved them all.

It seems I carry some memory from each station, some single little
thing, at least, that stands out. There's nothing quite like arriving
in a strange station and running to find the route to a certain track
to make a tight connection; likewise, a leisurely layover of an hour or
two that allows you to make some new friends and take in whatever
charms that station may boast.

I'm not so well traveled as many in this group, but many of you travel
for the purpose of bringing back those memories, and many of mine
involve train stations and the people I've met in them.

So just for the heck of it on a late Friday evening, what are your
favorite train stations and why?
