Why would anyone need a middleman to get a visa at the airport?

Possibly because Vietnam has discovered spam.

Ignore these folks just as you would the Australian visa/accommodation
spammers that post in r.t.a.

The good thing is that they post here so often, that you realise that that
neither of these twits have any customers.

Cheers,

Because there is no "Visa On Arrival" in Vietnam, only "pre arranged
visa" which does require a 'middleman' in Vietnam. This can be both
faster and cheaper than getting a visa at your local Vietnamese
consulate/embassy. If you don't have a visa in your passport or a
letter saying that you have a pre arranged visa, you won't be allowed on
the plane to Vietnam.

However, I think people would be much happier dealing with a physical
company rather than a rather anonymous email address. I know I would.

In any case, Mr Van Tours shouldn't be spamming here.

Cheers,

William.
