monthly apartment rentals
My wife and I plan on living in Europe for the next year or two
starting Sept 2004. We'd like to spend about 3 months in a number of places including Amsterdam, Berlin, Italy (not sure where), Greece or Turkey. A small apartment conviently located to public transportation with a kitchen would be ideal. We're flummoxed by my inability to discern quality and comparitive price from googling various web sites. two questions: 1- is there a group -listserve that I can access in which accomodations and references from individuals are available for apartment rentals that is trustworthy and friendly 2-Having had no luck with the big apartment rental sites (canned responses from personnal that don't answer questions) is there a small site with quality, well referenced apartments and a smart webmaster who can actually answer querstions? Any help would be most greatly appreciated. |

For Berlin you need to look somewhere like here. http://www.mwz-berlin.de/ This is not a holiday rental company, it is a company offering appartments to temporary workers (like me) and a three month let is not at all unusual. Usually the utility bills are settled by the owner and taken from the deposit when you leave. Don't expect better than average furnishings You will find similar companies in most northern european countries. There's another compnay that is franchised through Germany: homecompany.de, but my experience of using them is that the ash tray on my bike is more useful. tim A small apartment conviently located to public transportation with a kitchen would be ideal. Take a look at www.slowtrav.com They are heavy on Italy but have reviews of apartments by members. |

We've done similar for just 2 weeks at a time - in London and Rome. We
simply Googled, then followed up with individual apartments only. We didn't bother with agencies. Reviews were often available. The results for the places we selected were brilliant. Pretty much as advertised. We had a ball in each city - in ordinary apartments in normal residential areas. Cost less than a cheap hotel; much, much less than we would have paid for the standard accommodation we ended up in. "cullulloo" wrote in message ... If you are considering Venice I highly recommend this flat:
http://www.geocities.com/petelory/ Try to get real references -- we narrowed things down to three flats, using multiple sources, and more or less flipped coin and took one. It was/is lovely. Later we checked out the other two and they were ghastly. We were lucky. rjf "cullulloo" wrote in message ... My wife and I plan on living in Europe for the next year or two starting Sept 2004. Hi,
I could give you just a little help about staying in Italy: i suggest you planning to spend time in Rome (beautiful and warm...), but apartments there could be really expensive, even if you rent for more than a month :-( . What you can do is to look for apartments on the coast (pay half price or less) even in residence, 30 minutes away from Rome downtown, public transportation linked, relaxing and seaside!! For examples towns by the sea: Ostia, Torvajanica (not so beautiful...), or Anzio. If you need more info take a look at this sites: http://www.ostiaantica.net/ http://www.anzio.net/ http://www.t-village.it regards,Manuel "A Mate" wrote in message . au...
