Port or Starboard on Princess Star for Mediterranean?
I traveled from Barcelona to Venice last year and I was wondering about the
same thing. However, I would say that overall it makes no material difference what side of the ship you are on unless there is a specific (single) port that you are interested in. Port or Starboard on Princess Star for Mediterranean?
Hi Joan,
In the old days, sailing west to east in the Med and Indian Ocean meant that the port side was shaded; hence, the saying for the British was "Port Out Starboard Home" and the baggage tags reportedly carried the "POSH" initials and so was born the popular word for plush travel. You may prefer a bit more sun so starboard might be your choice. Also, it will probably mean more if you have a balcony accommodation. If you wanted to know which side is better while you are in port, then that is an entirely different matter. Aloha |

Port or Starboard on Princess Star for Mediterranean?
Depending on the ports you are visiting and how close to land you are sailing
it probably is port. Mt Stomboli can be seen clearly on the coast of Italy - if you're sailing by in daylight. However, when you sail into Venice the main part of town will be on the starboard side - including St. Marks Square and the Bridge of Sighs. The view is breathtaking from the bow too! Enjoy! |

Port or Starboard on Princess Star for Mediterranean?
Depends on the type of Cabin that you have.
If a standard outside then it really does not make much of a difference as you will want to go topside to see anything worth experiencing anyway. If you are in a balcony cabin then you really want to be on the Starboard, or Right, side of the ship for the entry into Venice. This takes an hour of more so you will want to get up early, get a large pot of coffee and get out on the balcony to take it all in. A window just won't do. You need to be outside to feel the air, hear the sounds, feel the excitement. Just my opinion. Cal Ford Lido Deck Cruises NCL Star 8 Day Mexico 11-13-04 In article , Joan says...
