Where is Monk when we need him? Maybe she didn't jump, maybe she was
pushed. After all Cruise Ship Casinos don't allow players to wager
their house, husband and 1st born, do they? That would be a reason to
off oneself - suddenly realizing they had lost all. But my money is on
somebody offing her. Then again she could have had uni-polar or
bi-polar affective disorder (Clinical Depression or Manic Depression)
and run out of her meds. Still if that were the case, it takes three
days for most anti-depression or anti-mania drugs to metabolize out of
the body. Somebody, like her husband should have noticed something.
Most people who commit suicide leave a note, or some sort of message.
They also go through "tidying up" rituals like paying all their bills,
balancing their check book, or cleaning house. The news media hasn't
mentioned any of those things, so accidental death or foul play may be
the cause. Call Adrian Monk, or somebody from CSI.

Anywho, there sure have been a lot of people go missing off cruise
liners for one reason or another.

Actually, she didn't go missing. They didn't have to backtrack their course
or anything. Quite considerate of her to keep Carnival from having
disgruntled passengers that missed a port because of a fruitless search.

Wow, your mind is racing, stay away from second sory balcony's, guns, or
lethal drugs. But then again, go for it. Do you have any nice tools that
will be for sale?

So why do you title the subject "dies from FALL" when she actually jumped?
Fall makes it seems like it may be some one's negligence. While jumped is
obviously self inflicted.

48-year-old woman died from a fall on a cruise ship operated by Carnival
Corp., the company said.

The woman, whose name was not released by the cruise line, was seen
jumping from one of the ship's upper outside

decks and landing on a cabin balcony today, the Miami-based company said
in a news release.

The ship, called the Carnival Conquest, was concluding a seven-day
Caribbean cruise that made stops in Montego

Bay, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. It returned to Galveston on Sunday. The
company said the woman was travelling

with her spouse. Carnival did not provide any other details.

Cruise passenger John Bayer, of Purmela, said he could see the woman lying
three levels below where he was on the

ninth level. He said he did not see the woman's fall, which he said
occurred about 3 p.m. as the ship was entering the

Gulf of Mexico. Carnival said it has notified authorities. The U.S. Coast
Guard did not immediately return phone calls

seeking details of its investigation.

Yes, every time I read the title, I think she must have slipped and
fell and died as a result somewhere in the course of normal walking
around the ship. When she actually jumped and we don't know whether
she intended to jump OFF the ship into the water and missed, or if she
didn't think about where she would be landing due to some type of
impairment, or if she meant to jump ON to another part of the ship (as
in the title).

Your absolutely correct. As W.C. Fields once said, while falling off of a
1900 foot cliff..."It's not the first 1899 feet that will kill you my
dear..it's the last foot that will do you in".

BTW..it is the booze that puts a person into the frame of mind to even think
about suicide.

Everyone who books a cruise thru a travel agency like george L, should be
required to go to the agents office and take a written psychological test,
so as to look for people with what is called "dimished capacity, or as
commonly referred to as "fruitcakes". Then, the "fruitcakes" could be denied
bookings on the cruise ships.

Nah, it is the sober crazy mind that creates the thought of suicide.

But it can be drunken mind that has its defenses down to the point

Default Woman dies from fall on cruise ship in Gulf

I was on the ship --- she jumped. While I didn't see it, I did talk to
people afterwards that did. There were plenty of witnesses. She was on
the 10th deck and was having an argument with someone (I presume to be
her husband). Of course when a loud argument breaks out, people look.
This was a very popular place on the boat, other then a private
balcony, the only public place right on the stern overlooking the
ocean.

As for backtracking, yes, the ship did go into a circle, the crew not
immediately knowing she missed going into the water. I was standing in
line in the store when the ship leaned hard. My wife was in the casino
and a woman there fell over due to the ships turn. This was about 3:20
pm.

There were many rumors as to the reason - announced divorce, gambling
debt, etc - who knows what the truth is.
