Default Sea Dream Yacht Club?

"MerriAnn" wrote in message news:CCPTc.113959$J06.70150@pd7tw2no...
Have any of you ever done the Caribbean with the SeaDream Yacht Club? How
was it? What about the itinerary?

Thanks

I haven't tried them (I wish though!), but there is a review on CruiseDiva.com.

Happy to answer this and to have the opportunity to vent at last!

Last Christmas, we took a pair of expensive back to back one week cruises on
the SeaDream II. Good ships. Good service and food However, one of the
major reason for taking a small (100 passenger) ship with none of the usual
entertainment and other features of large ships is for the company of other
passengers

BUT

The first (Christmas) week, there were some 25 children out of 100
passengers. And, remember, this is a small ship with absolutely no
facilities at all to deal with children. Some were extremely noisy and
intrusive and frequently underfoot. We thought this was bad until

The second week, we had an ethnocentric, extended family of 32 people
(including a dozen children) out of the 100 total passengers.

They had their own tables at meals, moved together as a group, never even
attended the Captain's parties and really did not mix with the other
passengers at all..

We will not sail on Sea Dream again.

I highly recommend that, if you have any considerations about who your
fellow passengers are, before you book with Seadream, question them
EXTENSIVELY about who else has booked. If you get an evasive answer or one
you don't like, do something else.

Just my opinion.

Thank you very much for venting. This is important information. Extremely
small ships such as the SeaDream I and II will now not be a part of any
consideration for any cruise unless we know ahead of time what the passenger
makeup will be and it is to our liking. Failing that, no way will we cruise
this line.

Did anyone notify you in advance (so that you could cancel or select another
sailing) that 25% of the ship would be children?

Did anyone notify you in advance (so that you could cancel or select another
sailing)that 32% of the ship would be one affinity group?

Those are high percentages, and as you pointed out, the ship didn't handle it
well, as you were made uncomfortable.

Seems like anxious, prickly or prejudiced people should stay home.
There is never going to be any guarantee who you sail with unless you
book the whole ship yourself as to who you are going to be cruising
with. They are *never* going to tell you who else has booked. That
would violate the privacy of others and would also violate laws against
discrimination.

Hi,

FWIW, either Seadream or any other Cruise line will give you this
information.

Best regards,

It does not violate anyone's privacy to be told that there is a large

you can book your _____ age child.

They are not going to tell you there is a large affinity group aboard.
If you want to avoid children then book when school is in session. That
is when there are the least. Or book a Celebrity Adults only cruise.
Works every time. The cruise lines are not going to give you any more
info than you can guess.
