Default Cabin/date advice - Summit to Alaska HELP!

We were booked on the infamous, now-cancelled May 20 cruise from
Vancouver to Alaska. We had a starboard CC cabin (6136) and would like
to re-book the equivalent this summer. As of now, we can get either
9092 for a July 1 cruise or 8160 for a July 29 cruise. Any advice on
which we should take?

Our concern with 9092 is noise from deck 10. We don't care for a lot of
sun, so the overhang itself is not a drawback to us.

We don't have any real concerns about 8160, but we're worried about
possibly missing out on wildlife, calving glaciers, and so on in late
July/early August. We plan to spend another week driving around to
Denali, Fairbanks, and Anchroage after the cruise.

Any and all advice is appreciated!
Leo

I always advise folks that if they want to see the real Alaska,
not a bunch of cruise line excursion "experiences", that they
should come any way BUT on a cruise ship. Why you sheeple want
to be herded around in groups of 2000 is beyond me. Sort of
defeats the whole idea of Alaska, which is solitude.

Besides which, we're sick and tired of the crowds, air and water
pollution, busses cramming small town streets, and constant
helicopter noise. I'd be happy to never ever see another cruise
ship in my town, and at least half of Juneau agrees with me.
Unfortunately, the cruise industry can afford to buy more
politicians than ordinary citizens.
