Default British Midland International (BMI) AIrlines What experiences have you had?

My wife and I are planning an extended vist to Europe this fall. So
far, the best rates we've abeen able to find are with BMI. My
questions is, what are they like to fly with? I'm 6 ft 1" and my
skinny days are behind me. Are the seats really cramped to squeeze
people in or are they following a more humane and modern trend of
other airlines of increasiong the pitch between seats. We are flying
from Vancouver Canadaa to Europe.

Any positive or negative experiences would be appreciated and
educational.

thank you.

Seems to me that from Vancouver to Europe, either BMI is selling you seats
on a code-share on AC metal, or they get you through Toronto?

Sorry, most airlines are NOT doing this. Only AA was and they've given
up (not on flights to Europe though).

BD does NOT fly to Canada. What you're seeing is probably a codeshare
flight on Air Canada if the flight is to London, or Lufthansa if to
Frankfurt or Munich. AC seat spacing is a *bit* better than average.

Don't they fly to YYZ from somewhere in northern UK?

bmi codeshare with AC to Canada - see
http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/sect...ils.aspx?p=157

Flights with BD48xx numbers are AC codeshares.

I can thoroughly recommend bmi for travel within Europe - they are one of
the best European carriers IMO. I have also heard good things about their
translatlantic services, even in economy...

AFAIK, they're still flying to both ORD and IAD (though they did drop
IAD for a while).

They've either just started or are just about to start a nonstop
YYZ-MAN, replacing Air Canada's seasonal service.

I flew ORD-MAN-ORD with them over Christmas; seat pitch isn't any
greater than any other scheduled airline (though it's adequate, and more
than you'd get on a charter). Service otherwise was very, very good.

I've recently flown BMI Manchester-Washington DC and I definately recommend
them. Excellent service in economy (and they upgraded me to premium economy
on the way back which was even better!).

MAN-YYZ is BD-operated and AC use it as a codeshare.

Thanks. I see it is a new service.
